Following fifteen years of working in the photography industry in New York City, Rocky Kenworthy created Dot Editions in 2005. For the last ten years, Dot Editions has worked with a high profile, demanding and eclectic client-base whose work has been shown both nationally and abroad. In 2013, Dot Editions established a presence in Western North Carolina while continuing to print for a wide array of clients around the country. Dot Editions is now pleased to call Asheville its home, and is looking forward to becoming an integral part of the southern fine art scene.

Dot Editions is focused on providing the highest level of imaging services available, whether it involves retouching, archival pigment prints, or digital captures of artwork. Specializing in limited edition portfolios, gallery/museum exhibitions, fine art reproduction and unique book publishing, our work is founded upon the timeless process of artistic collaboration. We engage with each artist to actualize the full potential of their project with a strong focus on personal interaction throughout the entire process.

In the heart of our work lies an unparalleled attention to detail that presents itself distinctly in each phase of a project. It begins during initial customer interactions, as we work with the client to clearly envision the final product. The project is then initiated further by digital image captures and critical color correction, using the most up-to-date color management software technologies available. From initial proofs to the packaging of final prints, our dedication to detail is seen as an extension of the artistic process itself.

Rocky Kenworthy – Founder

Born and raised in the Panhandle of North Idaho, Rocky Kenworthy migrated to New York City at the age of 23 and began crafting a living through photography. Working first as a photographer’s assistant in New York, Rocky found his true calling in the late 90’s with the evolution of digital imaging and printing. With a well-established client base of photographers, Rocky started on a new path of high-end retouching for advertising and editorial publications. He also found that his client base was looking to produce uniquely printed inkjet portfolios. By the beginning of 2001 he began producing beautifully printed portfolios for his clients. Following his commercial success, Rocky created one of the strongest boutique printing studios on the east coast. Dot Editions was created in 2005, and in 2012 migrated south to Asheville, NC.  Since 2010, Rocky has made Asheville his home along with his wife and daughter.

Ben Nixon – Framing

As well as being an excellent fisherman, Ben Nixon is a celebrated and experienced photographer whose work has shown internationally. Primarily focused on the timely collodion process, using liquid emulsion on glass plates, he too is excited about once again calling the North Carolina mountains his home. What began as a month-long apprenticeship with photographer Jack Welpott in Northern California blossomed into ten years of immersion in the rich photography scene of the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, five years of fine art framing with Smith Anderson North have prepared him with all of the skills necessary to build the museum quality frames and stretchers offered by Dot Editions.

The Studio

At Dot Editions we work collaboratively with our clients, using the most up-to-date equipment and technology to ensure a professional level of craftsmanship. We strive to share our knowledge with the community in order to enhance communication and enable an ever-growing network of dialogue. We see our studio as an extension of your own, where we become part of the artistic process and engage in a continual learning experience, driven by collaboration and the sharing of ideas, information and experiences.

Dot Editions will occasionally be hosting community-based workshops, lectures, discussions and other events to participate in the development of the fine arts within our community.
